Shallow, Steep and Recovery from slopes - All in 1 day

Description:

You are still working at height, but differently…

Initially our slopes course was designed to help a company’s  de-vegetation teams to work safer near railway and highway infrastructure – working on slopes, embankments or cuttings.

However this training and our packs allowed non-rope people (IRATA etc) in many different roles to work safely on slopes, be supervised, assisted – and have a rescue system, ready to go when it was needed.

Shallow – supporting own weight

Usually less than 33 degrees, but depends on weather, ground and personnel conditions

(single safety rope, standing up, supporting your own weight, conducting a task, but protected from a fall)

Steep – supported by the rope

Usually above 33 degrees, but again depends on conditions

(twin ropes, fully supported by the rope system with an additional safety back up)

Recovery – each area will need only 1 recovery pack as your rescue plan, carried by your supervisor.

Course Aims:

To train and assess individuals to manage and maintain their own and their co-workers safety while working on slopes, supervise and to be able to act effectively in an emergency.

So what does this mean?

These courses will teach your team the legislation in an easily understandable way, what you are able to do and how to help your team on a slope.

Despite being able to stand on your feet (and probably on the ground), there is still the potential to fall down the slope…

and people do.

Combined Shallow and Steep slope training

Designed for those with no previous experience, who require the skills to safely work on slopes, supervise others on slopes and be able to facilitate a recovery if required.

Essentially to learn practically – to set up, be safer working on slopes and have a rescue plan built, ready to go if needed.

Examples of Slope training needs:

Embankments – Working on / Recovery from Slopes

A lost footing in slippery or wet conditions while sampling, especially when task focused or operating machinery, is a predictable risk whilst working on a slope.

The back up of a safety rope could easily prevent significant injury.

Embankments – Working on / Recovery from Slopes

Experienced teams, being used to managing the land and the vegetation – so expanding  their services in to working on slopes is a natural progression.

The team see working on a slope is like walking up hill, how hard can it be?

However the manager sees that the environment has now changed. Work at Height regulations now apply and a fall down the slope is both predictable and easily preventable.

As the manager, I’m responsible for the team’s day to day work.
