If the task simply cannot be done from the ground and may need short term, short duration work at height – it must still be planned and conducted safely.
Designed for anyone, with no previous experience, who requires the skills to access, secure themselves and safely work at height via a ladder, stepladder or low level platform – then this is for you.
To train and assess individuals to manage and maintain their own and their co-workers safety while working at height, and to be able to act effectively in an emergency.
This half day course will teach your team the relevant height legislation in an easily understandable way.
Choose the correct, reasonably practicable way and equipment for carrying out the task at height.
Assess, pitch, lower, climb, secure and work from the most appropriate ladder, stepladder or platform to do the job.
Essentially to learn practically – to be use the right equipment and work safer at height.
Stepladders are assumed to be simple, but is one of the leading causes of injury at height, and tragically one fatality at a company we have subsequently trained.
They are easily misused, overbalanced and damaged.
It’s just a stepladder, everyone knows how to use that!

Ladders are a simple, portable and suitable solution for the tasks my maintenance team undertake.
They are often the most suitable platform to carry out the job, but do the team know how use, secure and inspect a ladder? I’ve assessed the task, deemed the equipment suitable – but do the team know how to use it correctly?
It’s my job to ensure they do.
As the facilities manager, I’m responsible for the team’s day to day work.
Not just the job, but accessing the task, staying safe, lifting tools, moving machine parts and planning for rescue if something were to go wrong…
It’s my duty to step back and plan the whole job safely…
